Hey Game Fans, we’re back with a bit of hobby update on the miniatures and other random wargaming stuff we do. Currently there are a bunch of projects and other random crazy things we’re working on. Right now I’m prioritizing the unbuilt/unassembled things that need to be glued to my fingers so i can get everything primed (and theoretically painted). So we’re going to start in no particular order.
Test of Honour
Test of Honour has been a progress machine since we picked it up at the end of last month. Currently i have the following boxes to work on and finish up:

2 sprues of Ashigaru Spearmen (10 plastic minis)
2 Sprues of Ashigaru Missile Troops (10 plastic minis)
Now i’m not sure how soon those will be coming in since they’re currently in England, but i have high hopes. I also hope that i will have the first batch done, assembled, primed and the fortunes willing, painted before they get here to fill out units.
The only things I’ll be missing from the Test of Honour line at that point are:

Bandits and Brigands
Brigand 3 pack
Alleged Ninja box
I’d also like to get
a special cup for the activation tokens
A 3x3 playmat
Terrain as appropriate
But those are more of a long term goal and i’ve got some ideas and plans for that.
Now i’m going to end up painting all of this stuff in Legend of the Five Rings Spider clan colors, so it’s going to be a fairly stark color scheme of white cloth and black armor with colored accents. I’m going to be taking a big swing with the Army Painter system to put these guys ready for the table, so expect pictures of WIP and hopefully the finished deal.
Warhammer 40,000
The other 800 pound gorilla on my hobby table, I have a couple of projects going for Warhammer 40,000 8th edition. My Deathwing army is currently on hold as it’s mostly painted and just needs to have some colors finished and then sealed. The assembly bays are full. I have 3 distinct army projects going right now.
Chaos Daemons
This is a holdover army from 6th edition Warhammer 40,000 and consists of
80 Pink Horrors of Tzeentch
6 Flamers of Tzeentch
4 Heralds of Tzeentch
2 Daemon Princes of Tzeentch
1 old Resin Kairos Fateweaver (who will be replaced as soon i decide to finish the army).
This army needs about 10 more pink horrors assembled and has most of the army currently base coated and awaiting highlights. This army also has the upside of i can play most of it Age of Sigmar (I’d have to order a bunch more stuff for that, so i am shying away from this idea for now).
The only really essential purchase i need to make for this project is a new Lord of Change model. The resin version of Kairos i have has holes in the thin resin of the wings and the wings consistently break off during transport. Expansion ideas would potentially include some Thousand Sons.
Imperial Knights
This used to be a faction of its own, but is currently more of a subfaction of the larger Imperium. During the heyday of 7th edition i picked up enough Knights to run the 5 knights list, and i still have all of them. 4 of them are in various stages of sub-assembly and painting. 1 of them however is still in the box and hasn’t been touched. I should put him together as a treat after i finish everything else. My current plan is to paint them up as allies to Forgeworld Metallica (My Adeptus Mechanicus army) or the Deathwing. With the way i’ve painted my Deathwing army, the colors are similar, i just need to settle in and finish the deal. Once the last one is assembled, they are done as i am going to be able to make them and they find a happy place in a glass case.
Tau Empire
Now this one is much more of a mess to deal with. I blame this one on the Enraged Wookie and my nephew, one of whom had a Tau army, and the other one who expressed interest in playing Tau. I picked up said army and then previously stated interest disappeared and now i have a Tau army that i am not a particular fan of. So i’m taking it as a change of pace from painting space marine armor.
So i ended up with a 3rd hand Tau army that i haven’t entirely inventoried and sorted. I also picked up a Start Collecting set for this for some work i did for a shop, so my current estimated Tau forces are as follows:
1 Ethereal
1 Riptide Battlesuit
12 Kroot warriors
Shadowsun
6 Stealth Suits
48 Various Drones (mostly gun drones)
37 Fire Warriors
1 Piranha
1 Devilfish
1 Commander Farsight

Now i haven’t inventoried the entire box (that might be getting done tonight) but aside from a pair of antenna on some Shield Drones, everything is i think assembled. The hard part of this army is that part of it’s painted, and part of it’s not. Since this is an army i acquired third hand, i have no idea what colors were used for the part that’s painted so i am going to get to strip some paint and decide on a new color scheme.
The next month or so i’ll be sort of figuring out what colors i want to do with this army. I’m looking for a blue or a purple that pops visually on a table and subtle accents to go with it. I’m perusing the internet and looking for ideas, so if you have any suggestions, i’m all ears. Expansions for this army are probably going to be slow, but it’s a solid core of an army.
Age of Sigmar
Speaking of things that i have no need to be picking up, i considering picking up a Deathrattle army for Age of Sigmar. It’s a small army list with a small variety of units to learn the rules for. I’m still working on this idea, but it’s percolating a lot better than a bunch of other things i could be screwing up.
If i end up losing my mind and chasing this lead down, i’m going to need a case that transports 170 skeletons, some of who have skeletal horses. So if you know a guy, i’m all ears.
Conclusions
That’s what the current project log looks like, and what I’ll be working on for the next month or so. Once i get things assembled, pictures will go up, and there will be more pictures as things get based, highlighted and finished. That’s what we’ve got, we’ll see you all soon. Game On, Game Fans
