Hey Game Fans, today we’re going to do a quick breakdown of the Experience Points for Season 4 of Adventurer’s League. There are two experience tracks in season 4 (One for brand new characters up to level 4, and one for more experienced characters that are level 5-10). We’re going to list the adventures, and indicate where they belong on these tracks and maybe some good points to consider hopping from the lower level track to the upper level track. This season can be played in direct order by following the adventure numbers, (depending on experience gains, you may have to exercise the catch up option to get from level 4 to level 5). We’re going to take a deeper dive and see what information we can come up with to help you get your stuff together. Read on, Game Fans.
Friendly Note: Completing any of these adventures will give you the Story Award: Demiplane of Dread. This prevents you from participating in any Adventurer’s League adventures outside of Barovia (this typically means any of the season 4 adventures or the Curse of Strahd Hardcover)

Thoughts and Ideas:
This season is built to be self contained to the Demiplane of Barovia and has several ways you can tie it into the Curse of Strahd Hardcover if you were inclined. This Season, overall, is more challenging than previous seasons because the characters are mostly isolated from their factions and resources. The one healer capable of raising the dead is a tricky creature that often has unusual prices to pay for such services and is unpredictable.
The other thing to keep in mind with this season is the setting. Barovia is a hard place full of miserable things and potentially functional people. The characters are going to have to work harder to take advantage of the things they find and the land is going to try and oppose them whenever it can. Between the scarcity of resources and hostility of the setting, this is an adventure season that will test adventurers (and their players). There are ways to remove the Demiplane of Dread story award throughout the adventure season, but they are few and far between and will drain resources from the characters in the process.
This is a season that is very good for experimenting with new character ideas and gives you a wonderful opportunity to play something different. This season is built for Tier 1 and Tier 2 play, and players with characters at the upper end of Tier 2 (levels 8ish) who have participated in the previous 3 seasons will miss out on the atmosphere of the season if they jump in. Start something new and try something a little different and see where that takes you. Those are our thoughts on Season 4, and a breakdown of the XP gains for each adventure in season 4 with Hours and Optimization levels for each. We’ll break down each of the adventures in the coming weeks and take a closer look.
Game On, Game Fans
