Adventurer's League Season 3 Breakdown

Hey Game Fans, today we’re going to do a quick breakdown of the Experience Points for Season 2 of Adventurer’s League.  There are basically two experience tracks in season 2 (One for brand new characters up to level 4, and one for more experienced characters that are level 5-10).  We’re going to list the adventures, and indicate where they belong on these tracks and maybe some good points to consider hopping from the lower level track to the upper level track.  This season can’t be played in direct order by following the adventure numbers because of these two different tracks.  We’re going to take a deeper dive and see what information we can come up with to help you get your stuff together.  Read on, Game Fans.

Lower Level Track

DDEX 3-1 Harried in Hillsfar:  Experience points  after completion: Between 375-500 experience points, depending on the outcomes.  After completing this adventure, your character will be 2nd level, barring you missing one of the segments, or suffering an untimely death during the adventure.
Adventure length: 1 hour mini sessions for a total of 5 hours.

DDEX 3-2 Shackles of Blood; Experience points after completion:  If played after Harried in Hillsfar, between 1,275 and 1,700 experience points.  If played by itself, between 900 and 1,200.  If being played as part of the sequence, it’s going to get your character to 3rd level.  If played on its own, it will get your character to level 3.
Adventure Length: 4 Hours

DDEX 3-5 Bane of the Tradeways: Experience points after completion: If played after Shackles of Blood, between 1,725 and 2,300 experience points.  If played by itself, between 450 and 600.  If you’re playing this adventure as part of the season 3 sequence, you should be level 3, possible level 4 if everything’s gone your way.   If you’re playing it as a standalone, you should be level 2.
Adventure Length: 4 Hours

DDEX 3-6 No Foolish Matter:  Experience points after completion:  If played after Bane of the Tradeways, between 2,125 and 2,900 experience points.  If played by itself, between 450 and
600 experience points.  If played in the season 3 sequence, your character is going to be very close to level 4, if not over that threshold.  If played by itself, this will put you at level 2.
Adventure Length: 2 Hours

Note:  at this point, if you have achieved level 4, you can exercise the catching up option to reach level 5.  If you take this option, you can start the upper level track from this point as a 5th level character, but you will not be able to pursue anymore lower level track adventures.

DDEX 3-10 Quelling the Horde; Experience points after completion:  If played after No Foolish Matter, between 3,025 and 4,100 experience points.  If played by itself, Between 900 and 1,200 experience points.  This should put a character playing in sequence at level 4 and a new character should hit level 3.
Adventure Length: 4 Hours

DDEX 3-12 Hillsfar Reclaimed: Experience points after completion:  If played after Quelling the Horde, between 3,425 and 4,700 experience points.  If played by itself, between 450 and 600 experience points.  This is either a character well on its way towards 5th level, or it’s a new character that’s just hit 2nd level.
Adventure Length: 2 Hours

DDEX 3-14 Death on the Wall: Experience points after completion:  If played after Hillsfar Reclaimed, between 3,875 and 5,300 experience points.  If played on its own, between 450 and 600 experience points.  Played in sequence, this is still a 4th level character, but the end of the line for 5th level is in sight.  If you’re playing this one on its own, you are looking at a 2nd level character.
Adventure Length: 2 Hours

Note 2:    If you still haven’t made it to level 5 after completing all of these adventures, and want to continue the mischief of this season, take the catching up option to level up to level 5 and jump in on the upper level track.

Thoughts and Ideas:

Now this doesn’t cover every potential interaction, especially if you’re mixing home sessions of Princes of the Apocalypse in with your Adventurer’s League season, but if you’re playing strictly the AL season, these are the rough XP breakdowns.  Take a look, see what you think, and i hope this helps you plan out the season if you’re getting a late start.  It should also help organizers plan out their schedule for making sure that everyone has an opportunity to experience season 3 in a method where they can play either a character from a previous season or start a brand new experience.

Unlike the previous seasons, this season has a majority of adventures for the 2nd tier of Dungeons and Dragons (5th through 10th level).  This means you’re likely going to have to catch up to get from tier 1 to tier 2 (or play adventures from previous seasons).  It’s also the first season to include an adventure for tier 3 play.

Anyway, that’s our thoughts on the Season 3 experience breakdown.

Game On, Game Fans
