Hey Folks We’re back with another review. This weekend we had a grand old time for my birthday. We started the party with a visit to a new games store in the DFW metroplex, Dragon's HQ Cards and Games. Located at 2421 Parkway #1200 in Fort Worth, Texas 76177. I went to go pick up a force pack for BattleTech, but wanted to give my Thoughts.
So, first impressions were good. The strip mall where we found the store was clean and well maintained. There was a crew installing a rolling door for the front entrance as we walked up and I was a little concerned I wasn't going to be able to duck under it to get in. Fortunately, they were kind enough to roll it up for me to get inside.
Inside the store, we were immediately greeted by the very friendly owner who was sorting cards. The store has a fun mix of Lego sets, trading card games, Roleplaying, and wargames. There was also a small selection of board games. There’s a sweetspot of putting stuff on shelves to catch the eye without overwhelming the customer. Dragon's HQ hits the sweetspot.
There are ample play spaces for trading cards, multiple tables for wargaming and a couple of different lounge spots for small groups. It's a well thought out space to enjoy games and hobbies. They also offer snacks and drinks. I always check out the seating at a place like this because of my motor difficulties, and I was surprised by how comfortable they are.
Prices felt competitive for the market and the vibe i got was that they'd order things for me, and I really enjoyed atmosphere and the store. We'll be visiting it more frequently when we're out that way.
4/5 stars.
