Fox Tales (Finale)

 Fiction Review: Fox Tales (Finale

Hey Folks, quick hits today, we're looking at Fox Tales by Bryan Young. We're covering the last story Fox Hunt and out overall review of the Anthology. Note: These were originally entries in Shrapnel, and have been collected for the reader.

Fox Hunt

The Foxes are off again, this time conducting a daring raid on a pirate base against allegedly light defenses. The action picks up quick and features one of the most traditional Battletech fights we've seen to this point in the Anthology.

This feels very much a day in the life mercenary drama and it does that to a tee. The Foxes read the assignment and nailed it. The conclusion of the story features a setting update for new readers regarding the fall of Terra which ties this series into the larger setting meta narrative.

Rating: solid 4.5 stars.

I have heard this recommended by multiple sources as a starting point for new readers to dig into Battletech. Having finished the Anthology, I agree. The individual short stories have a solid mix of world explanation for the new reader and lets them ease into the world without overwhelming them with the scale Battletech can operate on.

(For the love of God, Catalyst, build a force pack and a scenario pack for these kids).

You can pick up the Anthology at your preferred book vendor of choice. Buy locally if you can.
