Hey Game Fans, we’re back with hopefully what starts off of a brighter week than the one we endured last week. There’s a ton of interesting things and forward progress being made by people all over the hobby and we’re going to talk a little bit about what’s coming up from us the rest of the week. So Buckle in for a trip in the Rambler, because it’s about to go a Ramblin’.
Hyper RPG is having a grand old time falling down the rabbit hole of Warhammer 40,000. I love that they’re taking their particular spin on community driven RPG action. Watching these wonderful people find their way into the hobby and figure out how to express themselves in the game is going to be a lot of fun to watch and they are pretty neat example of how you can organically grow a gaming community. (Expect a more in depth article later this week about this topic). Also, congratulations to Zac and Malika on their wedding.
Special shoutout to our pal Ash Barker at Guerrilla Miniature Games on the release of his zombie survival horror miniatures game Last Days later this month by Osprey Publishing. Wonderful dude, Absolutely fantastic game that i wrote some articles on when he was showing it off last year. I am going to try and get a copy at Gencon this year and if that works it’ll be something that i can write about, and maybe the Wook can get his family involved with (They LOVE the genre).
I will be the first to admit that i don’t follow the Video/Computer/Electronic Game scene closely, so i understand that there was a giant electronics show this weekend and that a bunch of things were shown off for us to get excited about. I love that you guys are so passionate about these games and i truly enjoy the folks who will end up streaming these games for the rest of us to see.
Special Shoutout to the Folks at Harebrained Schemes for surviving a very topsy turvy week and congratulations on the Paradox Interactive deal. Always a class act, and i can’t wait to see what the future holds for the studio.
Wizards of the Coast showed off their next two big products, a low level adventure titled Dragon Heist for characters level 1-5, and Dungeon of the Mad Mage for Characters level 6-20. The Stream of Many Eyes was a wonderful media event that gathered some amazingly talented and passionate people together for three solid days of Dungeons and Dragons fun. We’re also hearing drums in the deep about the return of older settings from prior editions of Dungeons and Dragons and the community is stirring. What those settings might be are subject to endless speculation, so we’ll keep an eye out for that.
My favorite “New” product is probably the Soul Wars packaging from Games Workshop for the second edition of the Age of Sigmar fantasy wargame. No, seriously, this particular combination of materials is attention grabbing and they are pushing their game in some interesting directions for this release. This feels different from the release of the first edition, and this game is pushing a lot of neat buttons. Hopefully we can get some more information (and we’ll probably end up getting a couple of articles and a video or two on Age of Sigmar from Wook and Lumpy) to share with the rest of you.
Also, if the day stands, The Wook and i are going to be playing a game of Age of Sigmar at the Warhammer Lawrence store during their Grand Opening on the 14th or 15th of July. We’re still working out the points for that, and we’ll probably be playing Age of Sigmar 2nd edition. It’ll be the Seraphon squaring off against Ogors, so it should hopefully be fun to watch and play. We might try our luck at recording the game and seeing how that turns out. (I’ll see about putting together a hobby blog series about the Seraphon i’ll be playing and maybe the T’au army i’m working on finishing up).
We’ll close out our day with a Shoutiest of Shoutouts to our friends at Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. The Wonderworkers are gearing up to start producing new content at their new studio space. It’s been a journey getting from where they were to where they are, and i am very happy for them and wish them smashing success in the new space. Fun people, great community to be apart of. Get Your Waffles now, they’ll be in short supply.
That’s our quick look at the week ahead for us, Let us know what you’re planning on doing for your week. Game On, Game Fans.
