Unarmoured Samurai
Hey Game Fans, we’re back with an unboxing article on one of the expansion sets for Test of Honour. Today we’re going to take a look at the Unarmoured Samurai clampack. This is a single model pack with an upgrade card. Let’s take a closer look at the pack, and then we’ll take a look at the upgrade card itself.
The Figure
Now this particular pack comes with a single metal figure.
This is an unarmoured Samurai model who needed his sword blade straightened once i got him out of the pack. It’s an unnamed hero, and has a lot of pretty details you can experiment with. He comes with the base shown, and as far as i can tell, is the only model that you won’t have to drill the base to make a hole for the peg.
The Cards
There are two primary types of cards that come in each of these expansions. First, you’ll be getting recruitment cards to match the new units available in the box. Each Recruitment card included will have a breakdown like the one we did for the Starter Set. You can find our original article on the Recruitment cards for the starter set (and the Samurai Warband box) here. The card breakdowns for the current set are listed below.
Recruitment Cards
Unarmoured (Upgrade)
The Unarmoured card is a 0 cost upgrade to an existing samurai (you’ll need one of your own for this, but you have a separate model). It gives him +1 Agility, but it also has the effect that Damage tests against him roll +1 die. It’s an interesting trade off, being more likely to avoid taking a hit, but suffering more potential damage if a hit gets through. Depending on what role you see the character taking this upgrade performing, this means you might be able to cause a great deal of damage while staying out of harm’s way.
Additional Cards
This pack contains no additional cards beyond the upgrade.
Conclusions
It’s an interesting clampack with a metal character model. The model itself is very neat, with lots of details and i hope it’s a fun thing to paint (will update you further when i get him done). The Unarmoured upgrade card is a neat idea in design, and i can think of a couple of different options to use it. Now unlike the other kits, you can’t find this one on the Warlord Games webstore and will probably have to travel to an event to find one.
